In the first Harry Potter book Harry finds himself in front of a mirror and it shows him with his parents. His buddy Ron looks in the same mirror and sees himself with fame and glory and the highest title his young mind could imagine. They later discover that it shows their inner most desires or dreams. With that in mind, and with a few comments from this past General Conference I have found myself thinking about what I see when I look in the mirror.
These past few months haven't been the happiest of times for me. Which is all a part of life. People aren't supposed to be 100% ecstatic all the time. But they have been a very trying and growing time. I'm still in the midst of it.
I love how Heavenly Father allows us to go through crap. I love how He puts the people we need at that exact point to enter our lives and help us out in ways we sometimes didn't know we needed. Heavenly Father has always been very aware of me. Thankfully I have felt that over these past few months. That being said I met with my amazing bishop this past week. We had some really good discussions and then he gave me a blessing. It wasn't like the usual ones I've received in the past...this one was more of a "You already know it's going to be ok so here is what you need to do..." And it went on telling me how I need to work at being healthy not just physically but emotionally and spiritually as well.
So yesterday I went through one of my pinterest boards :) and I picked some of the really good uplifting happy quotes and took some dry erase markers and left notes for myself on my mirrors. So when I look in any mirror in my room I am reminded about the true things that matter. I don't have a mirror that shows me my dreams or inner most desires. I have mirrors that remind me what I can accomplish and what I should be working toward. There's no point in holding on to the old me when I can became a better, happier, all around fantastic new me.
